Girls Gone Junking - Part 1

The weekend has come and gone and we have a few treasures, a little junk and lots of fun memories of the 2014 Antiques Festival preview weekend.   This year, for the first time, Valine was able to drive up to Shreveport so that she could ride with the rest of us down to the festival.  It gave us an opportunity to eat lunch with Callie and do a little bit of browsing/shopping before we even left town.
Pam and David were gracious enough to once again let us stay with them on Wednesday night and even treated us to a great Mexican dinner!   The following morning, we met up with Sandy and Pam W and headed down to the Hill Country.  We stopped at a Goodwill Store along the way, and believe it or not, I found my favorite treasure of the whole weekend!  This cute little chair caught my eye and when I realized it was solid maple and a rocker, I knew it would be perfect for Callie and Jordan's nursery! The $15 price tag sealed the deal!   Valine practiced rocking the "imaginary baby" just to be sure.

We stopped for lunch in Brenham (and squeezed in a little bit of shopping), and it wasn't long until we found Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush along the side of the roadways.

We each posed for our traditional "bluebonnet" photos, as traffic zoomed by on the road.(how about those matching monogram shirts?!?)
Soon, we arrived at our "home away from home" in Fayetteville, TX and relaxation settled in as we wandered the Town Square that evening.

Another of our traditions is to exchange gifts with each other and it seems that each year, the gifts are more and more creative.  This year was no exception---there were mason jars with chalkboard tags, Easter kleenex and notepads, personalized insulated glasses and even wonderful wooden monograms!

My oilcloth creation this year was a pouch that attaches to our carts and holds a rain poncho.  Fortunately, we ended up not needing to actually using those ponchos, but it was nice to have them handy, just in case.
