2015 Round Top Adventure - Round One

Last weekend, I joined my "junking friends" for another weekend of antique shopping at the Round Top Antique Festival.  A couple of the usual crowd had other plans or family commitments, so there were just four of us this time.  We missed Pam and Lisa, but managed to carry on without them.  Our trip down to the hill country was a leisurely drive with a stop for pie in Palestine, TX.
As we walked out of the bakery, we met this little guy scrambling down the sidewalk.  What a surprise!  As we looked up to figure out where he came from, we noticed the sign in the window of the restaurant he was in front of.  Not wonder he was making a quick escape!!
We spent a couple of hours exploring Palestine, before completing our journey to Round Top.
Friday morning, the weather was absolutely perfect for being outdoors.  It began cool, but warmed up throughout the day and a gentle breeze blew all day long.
We started the day a little bit differently than previous years, opting to forgo our usual granola bars on-the-go  for a country breakfast in downtown Fayetteville.
As we waited outside for Orsack's to open, we chatted with some of the locals and enjoyed getting to know them.  The food was great and we felt fortified for the day of walking that lay ahead.

Just to shake things up a bit, we also decided to add some new shopping locations to our trip.  We visited the Blue Hills market, as well as several other higher-end venues, before settling in at our familiar Carmine shops.
We stopped in Round Top itself and explored the chapel downtown, as well as some of the quaint shops.
We finished the day with dinner on the porch.    A perfect ending to a perfect day!
